Title: A void in Valdebebas
Name of the project: Workshop Master 2, ENSALyon
Date: November 2008
Location: Madrid, Spain
Program: Public space
Team : Lya Blanc, Bertrand Batoz

This project was conducted as part of a 10-day workshop in Madrid, by a Spanish and French team.
The objective was to make proposals for an innovative urban project on neglected areas on the outskirts of Madrid.
The area is a void of 400 000 m² bordered by a railway and above which passes a motorway.
The site has a bowl topography.
We proposed a design based on the congestion of activities and on time in order to create encounters between different populations.
The activities (to play, to rest, to do sports, to learn, to party, to garden, etc.) are distributed according to frequencies throughout the site. Meetings therefore happen at different times in different places. The challenge was to make the site interesting without building anything on it.
